CAMPUS
In January 2019, CAN-NC was awarded a property donation at 2400 Summit Avenue (in partnership with the former HandyCapable Network which has since dissolved) by Bell House, Inc., a former assisted-living for persons with neurological and physical disabilities forced to close in 2014 due to federal and state policy changes and associated funding cuts. With 10+ acres of wooded areas, streams, and fields, our campus has served as a catalyst for expanding collaborations with community partners and unique arts programs.
Our Building
The 12,000 sq. ft. barrier-free building houses our offices, 22 artist studios, an art room, clay studio, large kitchen, gathering spaces, shaded patios and a gazebo.
Our Land
Our beautiful land is bordered by Highway 29, Sixteenth Street, Summit Avenue, and N. Buffalo Creek, a future site of the Greensboro Greenway. A slice of nature right by the city, it’s not unusual to see a red or gray foxes, a wild turkey, deer, raccoons and a wide range of birds.
Our House
Inman House is a 1000 sq. ft. accessible home built in the late 20’s. We currently use it for fiber arts programs such as sewing, loom weaving, and Montagnard backstrap weaving. The yard surrounding the house hosts our International Garden including raised beds, accessible paths, and an outdoor classroom.
