Fruit and Flowers in Watercolor

In this class we’ll celebrate the colors of spring by exploring the various ways we can use watercolor. We will experiment to find new ways of expression in this media. $35 per class (includes all supplies). Location: Trotter Active Adult Center, 3906 Betula St, Greensboro, NC 27407

Wild Clay Foraging
Saturdays, April 5 – 26

Students learn to identify different types of wild clay in the piedmont region. Students will also learn how to process wild clay. $160, supplies included.

Beginner Acrylic Painting Series with Craig Richards
Tuesdays, April 8 – May 27 from 1:00 – 3:00pm


This class is for beginner Acrylic painters defined as someone who has painted for less than one year. The class will include instructor led teaching with slide shows and painting demonstrations. Each student will receive individual guidance during the class. Students will learn the basics of how to create a painting from start to finish. Aging in Space: Creative Movement
Wednesdays, April 16 through May 7
from 1:00 – 2:00 pm

Join UNCG Dance Professor Janet Lilly in this creative movement workshop designed for anyone who enjoys moving including artists, athletes, dancers, dog-walkers, and those who like a good wiggle. After a simple warm-up, participants will explore interior and exterior spatial awareness through movement and creative prompts. No dance experience is required. Compassion Cultivation Course
Wednesdays, April 16 – June 4th 3:00-5:00PM (8-Week Course)

Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) is a program designed to develop the qualities of compassion, empathy, and kindness for oneself and for others. CCT integrates traditional contemplative practices with contemporary psychology and scientific research on compassion. The program was developed at Stanford University by a team of contemplative scholars, clinical psychologists, and researchers. LEARN TO: Increase kindness and compassion for ourselves and others, Cultivate levels of serenity, resilience, and creativity, Calm the mind and direct thoughts more positively, Sharpen the ability to focus and pay attention, Access a variety of self-care skills and techniques, Decrease worry, anxiety and anger. Tea & Clay: Designing Functional Teapots
Sundays, May 4th – June 8th from 10:00AM – 12:30PM

In this 6-week class, Steven Parker will teach basic wheel throwing and the steps it takes to complete a teapot that the student can use. He will also briefly talk about the cultural history of teapots and tea. In the last class, we will have a group tea session to testing pour functionality and for reflection and discussion. Fruit and Vegetables in Oil Paint
Saturdays, May 10th and 17th from 1pm – 3pm

In the 2-part series, we will paint 2-3 still lifes that we observe in class using fresh produce. This will give us the opportunity to talk about warm vs cool colors and creating lifelike shapes and forms with shading and highlights. $70, supplies included.

Drawing Workshop with Craig Richards
Creating Form by Capturing Light & Shadow
Wednesday, May 14th from 9am- 3pm


Students will do various exercises to step by step increase their awareness of how to capture light, how to avoid common mistakes, and how to create works that encompass mood and beauty. From 9am until noon we will work on free form shapes for fun, learn to create contrast, talk about what should be lit and what should not, and discuss hard and soft edges. We will break for lunch from 12-1pm (boxed lunch option available). From 1-3 pm we will tie it all together creating a finished work! $85, supplies included.

CAN’s Caregiver Camps
Saturdays, May 31st and July 19th from 10:00am – 2:00pm

Caregivers, we’re introducing a new camp just for you and your loved ones! With a similar format as CAN’s Grands, this shorter camp is designed for family caregivers and their loved ones with physical and/or cognitive limitations. Activities will be split so that caregivers can focus on relaxation and self-care while their loved ones connect and create. $99 for one caregiver and one care recipient. All supplies included! Camp will provide a Farm-to-Table lunch featuring fresh vegetables from our garden!  Location: CAN-NC, 2400 Summit Ave, Greensboro, NC
